1. Overview
EquiCloset is a marketplace for preloved equestrian equipment sold by private individuals. While we allow a wide range of equestrian-related items, some items cannot be listed because they are unsafe, illegal, or incompatible with our C2C model. Listing a prohibited item may result in immediate removal and account action.

2. Prohibited Items — All Regions
2.1 Counterfeit and Infringing Items
- Fake, replica, or counterfeit goods (e.g., items bearing a brand name or logo that are not genuine)
- Items that infringe copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
2.2 Weapons and Dangerous Items
- Firearms, air guns, crossbows, or any item capable of firing a projectile
- Knives with a blade longer than 3 inches (UK) or switchblades, gravity knives, and flick knives (any region)
- Weapons designed or adapted to cause injury
- Items specifically designed for use as weapons (e.g., whips with metal inserts intended for striking)
2.3 Medications and Controlled Substances
- Prescription medications (human or veterinary)
- Controlled drugs or substances of any kind
- Unlicensed supplements marketed with health claims
- Expired medications or vaccines
2.4 Recalled or Banned Products
- Items subject to a product recall by the manufacturer or a safety authority
- Items banned for sale under UK or South African consumer safety laws
2.5 Hazardous Materials
- Flammable liquids (petrol, solvents, aerosols) in quantities prohibited by courier terms
- Corrosive or toxic substances
- Pressurised containers (other than sealed, manufacturer-packaged CO&sub2; cartridges for air jackets)
2.6 Commercial Stock and Bulk Lots
- New items purchased for resale in commercial quantities
- Bulk listings of identical new items that indicate commercial rather than private selling activity
- Items being sold on behalf of a business without a separate commercial agreement with EquiCloset
2.7 Animals and Animal Parts
- Live animals of any kind
- Protected species or items made from endangered species (ivory, exotic skins) regardless of age
2.8 Digital and Intangible Items
- Digital downloads, NFTs, or virtual items
- Gift cards, vouchers, or currency
- Services of any kind
2.9 Personal and Intimate Items
- Used undergarments or intimate apparel (unless specifically equestrian, e.g., used breeches are permitted with full condition disclosure)
- Items that are unhygienic or pose a contamination risk
3. Region-Specific Prohibitions
3.1 United Kingdom
- Offensive weapons as defined by the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 (includes certain knives, zombie knives, and similar items)
- Items subject to UK import/export restrictions (CITES protected items, controlled goods)
- Second-hand crash helmets without full provenance — we strongly discourage listing used riding helmets where the impact history is unknown; sellers must disclose fully
3.2 South Africa
- Firearms, ammunition, and related accessories (prohibited under the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000)
- Dangerous weapons as defined by the Dangerous Weapons Act 15 of 2013
- Items subject to import/export restrictions under CITES or South African customs regulations
4. Items Permitted With Disclosure
The following items are permitted but require full and accurate disclosure in the listing:

| Used riding helmets | Whether the helmet has sustained any impact, its age, standard/certification, and any visible damage. Buyers should be advised that helmets that have sustained an impact should be replaced. |
| Air jackets / inflatable safety vests | Whether the CO&sub2; cartridge has been activated (fired); manufacture date; condition of bladder, harness, and trigger mechanism; any repairs or modifications. If the cartridge has been activated, a new cartridge must be stated as required. |
| Electrical items | Full working condition; whether PAT tested; age and visible condition of cables and plugs. |
| Bits and metalwork | Any rust, bending, or damage. Minor surface rust on non-contact surfaces is acceptable with disclosure. |
| Feed supplements & non-prescription products | Expiry date; original sealed packaging required. Open or part-used supplements may not be listed. |
5. Enforcement
5.1 EquiCloset monitors listings for policy compliance and responds to reports from users. If we determine that a listing violates this policy, we will: remove the listing without notice; notify the seller by email; take further account action if appropriate (warning, suspension, or permanent closure).
5.2 If you believe a listing violates this policy, report it using the report function on the listing page or email [email protected] with the listing link and reason.
5.3 Sellers may appeal enforcement decisions by emailing [email protected] within 14 days.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in law, courier terms, or platform policy. Material changes will be communicated by email or Platform notice. The latest version is always available on this page.
